Regrettably, due to the current COVID-19 situation in Aotearoa, The New Zealand Dance Company (NZDC) has arrived at the heart-breaking decision of having to cancel the spring national tour of Night Light in 2021.

The Company are devastated that the recent outbreak of the Delta variant has necessitated a second cancellation of the full national tour but remain committed to presenting the works as soon as possible.

All purchased tickets will receive a full refund. Tickets purchased online by credit or debit card (including Afterpay) will be refunded in full. Patrons should allow up to 30 working days for the refund to appear in their account. There is no need to contact Ticketek.

As always, kia kaha, arohanui – stay safe and stay healthy

Indulge your senses in a complementary double-bill that brings to life an ancient sequence of the natural world and an environment that exists between fiction and reality.

In The Fibonacci, NZDC co-Artistic Director Tor Colombus explores the mathematical sequence, revealing a movement tapestry of pattern and form, which provokes a feeling of connection to something deeper than the detail of each individual action.

Emerging Māori choreographer Eddie Elliott’s Uku – Behind the Canvas engages raw storytelling and draws from the pūrākau (storytelling) held within Te Ao Māori interwoven with New Zealand Sign Language and inspiration from visual artist Andy Denzler. Anticipation and intensity are at the heart of riveting movement paired with cleansing uku (clay), symbolising the relationship between Hineahuone and Tāne.

An evening of earthy contrast by two dynamic New Zealand choreographers, Night Light will leave you in awe of the artistry brewing right here on our shores.
